Abstract
In this work we report on the measurements of X-rays emitted in interaction of ∼100 keV Xe35+ ions with metallic Be foil. Measured X-ray spectrum was interpreted as a series of satellite and hypersatellite nf-3d transitions with n≥4. The observed X-ray transitions from very high Rydberg states indicate the formation of so-called "hollow atoms" in the process of neutralization of highly charged ions on the metallic surface.
