Abstract
The current role played by radionuclide imaging in the evaluation of children with urologic problems is reviewed, focusing on advantages and limitations in practical use. Main topics considered are the diuretic renogram and its implication in the diagnosis and prognosis of obstruction, the role of DMSA scanning in urinary tract infection and reflux nephropathy and the rational utilisation of radionuclide cystographies and the difficulties of quantifying reflux. Finally the diagnosis of renovascular hypertension, the assessment of absolute renal function and scrotal scintigraphy are briefly discussed.
