Abstract
Batik is a product of Indonesian culture and original identity. Its manufacture cannot be separated from the ancestors who passed it down from generation to generation. Each region in Indonesia has its own characteristics to represent its batik motifs, one of which is in Probolinggo Regency. The research started with findings in the field that there was still a lack of local batik craftsmen in Probolinggo Regency to develop motifs. As academics who are in the field of art, researchers feel it is important to contribute to solving these problems. For this reason, this study aims to create batik motifs by exploring the potentials around Probolinggo Regency, namely by representing the Ganggong flower combined with the beauty of the coast. This research includes descriptive qualitative research with the method of creation using Gustami's theory. The results obtained from this study are the explanation of the creation of motifs that represent the genggong and coastal flowers of Probolinggo Regency which consist of 3 stages namely: 1) the exploration stage, 2) the design stage, and 3) the embodiment stage. It is hoped that through this research it can be used as a reference for inspiration and motivation for batik art activists to continue to develop and revitalize motifs that are characteristic of other regions of Probolinggo Regency..
