"Aderir", "jurar" e "aclamar": O Império no Maranhão (1823-1826)

Abstract

Resumo O texto tem como objetivo apresentar nuances da gradativa incorporação simbólica da província do Maranhão ao novo corpo político que se delineava a partir do Rio de Janeiro, novo centro de autoridade, formalmente reconhecido a partir de julho de 1823. Como recurso, priorizei as discretas manifestações de reconhecimento da autoridade do Imperador, entre os anos de 1823 e 1825, os juramentos à Constituição de 1824 e, por fim, os festejos que marcaram a aclamação do Imperador e o aniversário de um ano do príncipe imperial, entre outubro e dezembro de 1826.Abstract The article deals with the gradual symbolic incorporation of the Maranhão Province in the new political body built from Rio de Janeiro, the new center of Imperial authority that was formally recognized in July 1823. As its main sources, the article uses the expressions of recognition of the Emperor's authority held between 1823 and 1825, the oaths to the 1824 Constitution, and finally the festivals that marked the acclamation of the Emperor and the first-year Imperial Prince's anniversary celebrations from October to December 1826
