Abstract
The subject of this work is to study the mechanosensation of bone tissue using a numerical approach. Therefore a finite element analysis of a single osteon was carried out. The calculated strains at the lacuna leads to a deeper insight into the mechanical conditions the osteocytes are exposed to. (© 2004 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)
