In recent years, some authors dedicated themselves to research on the need to apply concepts of Change Management (CM) to Project Management (PM) in order to develop better ways of dealing with human issues, generating greater effectiveness in the deliveries of the enterprise. Aiming to contribute to this research, the present study investigated the application of CM concepts for this purpose in the use of a specific model about the subject in a high budget engineering project with high added value for the organization and great diversity of stakeholders. The data obtained from semi-structured interview were analyzed through an inductive approach and then, according to a correspondence approach, the theoretical basis built in the study itself and the theoretical content of HCMBOK® were compared, generating a broader meaning for the answers obtained. The results reinforced the understanding that the application of CM concepts in PM allows the development of skills and techniques to establish a common purpose for change, to identify and analyze stakeholders, to implement effective communication, to plan and execute the transfer of knowledge to the organization's employees affected by the change and motivate the project team.
