Abstract

Copper is a vital trace mineral for goat health and reproduction, but many goats suffer from copper deficiency due to various factors. This chapter provides an overview of the role of copper in goat physiology, the signs and diagnosis of copper deficiency, and methods of copper supplementation and management. The chapter also discusses the effects of copper deficiency on different aspects of reproductive performance, such as ovarian function, hormone synthesis, conception, pregnancy, and offspring survival. The chapter aims to inform and educate goat owners, veterinarians, researchers, and anyone interested in goat health about this common and serious problem and how to prevent and treat it.
