Abstract

The topic of enterprise architecture (EA) has been gaining significant attention from both academia and industry due to the inefficiency of current IT architectures to cope with rapid changes in business environment. In order to turn existing EA into efficient and agile one, it is necessary to institutionalize an EA based on well-established enterprise architecture frameworks (EAFs) into the enterprise. In this paper, we propose EA institutionalization processes and its metric based assessment for implemented EA based on the currently available EA frameworks. In the EA processes, we define institutionalization strategies specific to organizations' goals, target architecture based on their baseline architecture, and transition plan for institutionalization. © 2010 IEEE.
