Abstract

Streptococcus pyogenes causes a variety of pathologies. During the last decade a worldwide increase has been observed in the incidence and severity of the infections caused by this agent. This article reports the case of an infant hospitalized in the Hospital Padre Hurtado Critical Care Area with septic shock and meningitis caused by Streptococcus pyogenes, with a fatal outcome.
