Abstract

In this paper, RANS models for predicting heat transfer for triangular staggered arrangement tube bundle in cross-flow studied. The results of the numerical study were compared with empirical correlation. The tube pitch were pt/D=1.3. Prandtl numbers were Pr=7.22. The Reynolds number Re based on the maximum average was in the range from 3020 to 6040. The incompressible two dimensional unsteady Reynolds averaged Naviere-Stokes (URANS) equations are employed, with nine different modeling strategies. The best agreement with the empirical correlation was obtained for the SST model. The differences between the numerical simulation and empirical correlation Nusselt numbers are below 12.7%.
