Abstract

Verticillium wilt is a significant disease that af- fects a large number of unrelated plants. The disease occurs in every country in the world and in every state in the United States. More than 300 kinds of plants are affected, including food and fiber crops, annual and perennial ornamentals, and landscape trees (14). When Verticillium wilt affects nursery stock, diseased plants must be rogued out. In landscape plantings valuable trees may be killed or damaged to the extent that they must be replaced. This report is a review of Verticillium wilt in land- scape trees. The causal agent, host symptoms, and control measures are discussed.
