Abstract

Students in the science stream show good cognitive abilities in Science and Mathematics lessons at the lower secondary level. In other words, this group of students possess a relatively better cognitive abilities for logical reasoning and cognitive maturity to excel in the future as professionals in Science-Mathematics related fields. However, there are still concerns regarding how Muslim Science students manage their thinking when confronted with a situation that demands scientific and religious consideration. Adolescent students’ thinking can be used as a baseline for understanding the worldview of young Muslims. As such, a study is necessary to comprehend how such thinking is managed. However, prior to conducting the actual study, a preliminary study was conducted to determine whether the chosen research method is effective in measuring the desired attributes and to determine the extent to which the findings can be used to study students’ arguments and reasoning in the stated venue.
