Abstract

Application of the aliphatic polyesters are now gradually increasing as the so-called "Environmental plastics". These polyesters rapidly decompose in various soils and in sea water. On the other hand, it was found that these aliphatic polyesters easily degraded by UV irradiation. Photo degradation of the polyesters was tested by solar irradiation. The films were exposed at the rooftop of Kobe University building and utility of the aliphatic polyesters for the photo degradable plastics was tested. ©1998TAPJ.
