Los "sentidos" estéticos del patrimonio: La construcción metálica antes del desarrollo de la soldadura. Ejemplos en Burgos y Palencia (España)

Abstract

After many years in forgetfulness, community has begun to realize the real importance of iron and steel constructions. The term "Architecture and Engineering of iron ", covers a lot of realizations which often are still in use. The acknowledgment of its qualities requires a baseline on the defining elements of their aesthetics, besides other aspects about their important contribution to the development of technology as we know nowadays. This paper aims to reflect on the concept of dimensions that are accrued in these works, as well as a full review of usually used criteria in critical analysis of constructions. The article finalizes with a list of the dimensions that can be detected in the particular case of metallic heritage, providing photographic examples of works executed within the provinces of Palencia and Burgos (Spain).
