In the realms of anesthesiology and perioperative medicine, AI-particularly machine learning (ML) and artificial neural networks (ANNs)-is positioned to fundamentally enhance patient care [1]. The intricate and dynamic nature of managing patients before, during, and after surgery, characterized by numerous variables and ever-changing conditions, renders it an optimal domain for AI integration [2]. By leveraging AI's capacity to interpret and synthesize vast datasets, healthcare professionals can predict and mitigate complications in real time. Moreover, AI facilitates truly personalized anesthesia by incorporating genetic and biological information, while AI-driven systems are emerging to complement human expertise [3]. This editorial explores the latest advancements, applications, challenges, and future prospects of AI in anesthesia and perioperative medicine, highlighting significant scientific progress that is shaping the field's trajectory.
