Abstract

Electric vehicles are among the major substitutes of the fossil fuel based vehicles and can overcome negative environmental impacts of the fossil fuel based vehicles. As the drastic increase in EV penetration in the market requires same extent of charging infrastructure and Construction of EV charging stations and it is considered as an integral part of EV infrastructure. With an increasing number of EV users, charging demand also increase. To meet the charging demand, installation of well designed Infrastructure for charging is widely desired. However, it is not suggestible to place them everywhere in the network. As DC chargers draws more power from the grid and may cause violation of critical parameters of the power system network such as power losses, voltage deviation and stability etc. In the present article a full scale analysis is presented to conduct a simulation analysis in MATLAB environment and determine the best site for installation of electric vehicle charge stations with affordable price by minimizing the installation cost in a standard IEEE 33 bus reconfigured distribution network by using Integer Particle Swarm Optimization (IPSO) algorithm.
