Abstract

The laboratory is a place for the development if science through various researches and experiments, in research activities or experiments of course using various types of tools and chemicals to support their activities and several other supporting facilities such as water, gas, electricity and of course acid cabinets. Tools, chemicals and laboratory facilities and their activities have the potential to cause accidents. This study aims to determine the potential physical and chemical hazards that can occur in the formulation laboratory and control of these potential hazards. Hazard potential identification research in formulation laboratory uses a normative juridical approach, namely by studying or analyzing secondary data in the form of legal materials, especially primary legal materials and secondary legal materials by understanding the law as a set of regulations or positive norms in the legislation system laws that regulate human life and are supported by reality on the ground. The findings of this study found that the potential physical hazards that occur are mostly low risk and are handled by routine procedures.Potential chemical hazards that exist are flammable, corrosive and toxic with its control that is by implementing MSDS in accordance with applicable SOP.
