Abstract
The aim of this study is to describe the achievement of first generation students. We put in our model such variables like students’ integration into the campus (toward peers and lecturers too), students’ motivation toward further studies and parental attitude toward learning and schooling. If we go through the scientific literature we can detect the disadvantageous situation of first generation students in these fields. During our analysis a database was used which is related to a research university (N=810), Hungary. The phenomenon of achivement was measured in two different ways. Firstly an index was used which was created from a questionblock that contains the elements of academic activities and the guarantees of successful labour-market presence and secondly the weighted form of average. We can find the trace of the lower level of achivement in the case of first generation students’ and students with heterogenous background. The parental education had got their own and special effect in the linear regression model too. A netoworks towards lecturers and gender shape the two forms of achivement as well. GPA was not formed by parental background.
