Abstract
Main findings: (1) High Cd accumulation is determined by the high capacity of synthesizing glutamate in rice grains. (2) Cd inhibits the synthesis of amino acids by expending glutamate. (3) Late rice cultivars increase health risks caused by Cd intake at contaminated areas.
