Abstract

Lewis acid-catalyzed α-amidoalkylation of enolizable aldehydes with N-(α-benzotriazolyl-α-arylalkyl)amides followed by intramolecular Friedel - Crafts cyclization provides a convenient route to 2-substituted 1-amidoindenes.
