Abstract
The chapter delves into the additive manufacturing technique for MEMS and miniaturized sensing devices/systems. The focus is on two primary methods: Stereolithography (SLA) and Fused Deposition Modelling (FDM). The first section of the chapter discusses SLA printing, highlighting its use in printing complex 3D objects leveraging UV light to solidify photosensitive resins. A detailed step-by-step process is provided for designing and printing a Y-channeled microfluidic chip using SLA technology. In the second section, the chapter covers FDM, a method that involves the extrusion of thermoplastic materials. The fabrication process is explained, particularly in the context of creating single-electrode electrochemiluminescence (ECL) devices. Examples of practical applications of these techniques in biosensors and drug screening devices are also highlighted in the chapter.
