Abstract

Diclofenac sodium suppositories 150-200 mg day-1 were compared with placebo in a double-blind study during the first 3 days after uvulopalatopharyngoplasty in 40 patients with habitual snoring or obstructive sleep apnoea syndrome. Consumption of rescue analgesics (paracetamol suppositories) and pain assessed by a visual analogue scale were significantly less in the diclofenac group. Bleeding time (modified Ivy's test) and reported side effects did not differ between the two groups. © 1992 British Journal of Anaesthesia.
