Abstract

Ascotricha crucispora, a new species with a Dicyma anamorph, is described and illustrated from soil in the West Indies and Turkey. It is characterized by ostiolate ascomata with sparse geniculate hairs, cylindrical asci with an amyloid apex, and discoid ascospores which have longitudinal mounds on the convex surface. The Dicyma anamorph is characterized by verticillately arranged ampulliform conidiogenous cells on long conidiophores and nearly globose, smooth-walled, sympodioconidia. The holotype was isolated from coastal soil in Antigua and Barbuda.
