Abstract

The human migrations in Colombia, caused by economic necessities and armed groups, produce consequently cultural migrations, displacements of worldviews and artistic perceptions. The Pacific Region is not alien to these issues, and the musical group África, as an exponent of the music from Choco, represents a clear example of this suation. Its integrants came to Palmira from the region of San Juan river, searching opportunities within sugar industry, and bringing their music, instruments and perception of the world with them. Therefore, this work pretends trough a documental corpus, historical and conceptual references and ethnografic quest, look into the origination and consolidation process and determine the features that conform África's music.
