Abstract

This article is the result of research work carried out in Photography workshops in three specific contexts: Penitentiary Unit 48, with young male prisoners; a non formal education school for adolescents and with older women in a civil partnership in the hills in Córdoba. This different experiences are articulated around the same problem: photographic representations of people, where the subject can be recognized through and in some particular and unique traits, what I call selfreferential photographic repertoires. We will attend to the particularities of each context but also what they have in common. The systematization of the results also involves a consideration about portraiture in the social history of photography, to account the continuity of the operation "this is me" when gazing at our own image.
