Abstract

Prescribing is the final competence of a doctor, which means that a doctor must have a strong understanding of how to write the right prescription. According to WHO figures, medication errors are responsible for one death per day and injuring about 1.3 million people each year in the United States. Several incidents of medication errors also occurred in Indonesia. Insufficient understanding of standard prescription writing formats results in a lack of prescription writing skills and medication errors. This article discusses how to write the correct doctor's prescription. The standard for correct prescription writing consists of inscriptio invocatio prescriptio signature suscriptio and pro. The things that need to be considered in order to be able to write prescriptions properly and correctly are using clear ink, drug name (including character letters and spelling), type of drug preparation, dosage, amount medicine (in roman numerals), and the requested method of consumption must be written completely and clearly in the prescription to avoid medication errors.
