Abstract

In this paper we analyse the assessments that tutors from different education levels make regarding their training. A test was completed by 1350 tutors from all the autonomous communities of Spain. The initial and continuing training received in relation to the tutorial function reach 2.8 and 3.9 points respectively (0-10 scale). Several topics are considered important for their continuing training, ranging from "regulations" (6.6) to "resolution of conflicts and coexistence" (8.9). These topics are most valued by female tutors, the younger age group, those from state-subsidised schools, Primary Education teachers and those who spend six or more hours a week in tutoring tasks. It is proposed that initial and continuing teacher training should be improved with respect to the tutorial function, adapting it to the current needs and demands.
