Abstract

Different granular formulations of cloethocarb were evaluated as soil applications at planting of maize. Cloethocarb at a rate of 15 g a.i. 100 m-1 gave adequate control of nematodes and of Cicadulina spp., vectors of maize streak virus, and a rate of not less than 20 g a.i. 100 m-1 was needed for control of the stalk borer, Busseola fusca (Fuller). Plant stand was positively influenced while maize yield was increased by the use of cloethocarb.
