Abstract

The sudden onset of pandemic influenza in 2009 showed that different registration criteria by national authorities may lead to the introduction of diverse vaccination regimens. Registration authorities promote the identification and introduction of new COP in addition to the most often used HI assay. Attempts to identify the basics of protection against influenza should lead to better correlates, taking into account the full diversity of the humoral immune response as well as the cellular immune response in separate age groups. © 2010 Landes Bioscience.
