Racismo científico y modelo colonial en el primer franquismo: Guinea ecuatorial

Abstract

This work focuses on the relations between scientific racism, colonialism and political reformism by examining a case study-the ad-ministration of Spanish Guinea during World War II. During the War, the Franco regime found itself presented with new opportuni-ties to fulfil its imperial aspirations. In particular, this article studies how Spanish colonial administrators embraced the racial science of co-lonialism, blessed by the international rise of fascism. They used it to shape labour relations in order to increase colonial exploitation, which exposed the realities of the «civilizing mission» of hispanidad.
