Abstract
This paper presents the use of polymer composites in the automotive. In the first part, the matrices and the fibres used for automotive are presented as well as moulding processes. The criteria of choice are then described and particularly the advantages of composites. Finally, the main applications that are currently in production in the automtive are shown in three areas: under hood parts, body parts, and underbody parts. © 2001 éditions scientifiques et médicales Elsevier SAS.
