Abstract
This book attempts to synthesize the important developments in violence risk assessment with adults, particularly over the last two decades. It places violence risk assessment within the particular context of forensic mental health assessment (FMHA)—so those using this book will find it useful in considering best practices in FMHA risk assessment. Some general topics covered include evaluation for risk of violence in adults in the legal context; forensic mental health concepts; empirical foundations and limits; preparations for the evaluation of risk; data collection; interpretation of the data; and report writing and testimony.
