Abstract

A multivortex separator has been developed to reduce the adverse effect of paint particles on producing high-quality goods. The operating principle of the proposed device is described. The flow pattern in the separator is such that solid particles of paint or coatings settle under centrifugal force in the separation zone formed in the space between the device wall and separation elements. The separator provides efficiency from 0.66 to 0.69 for particles with sizes from 1 to 6 μm. When the design dimensions of the device were changed, there were no considerable changes in the efficiency of particle separation. The Stokes numbers-dependent equation of the efficiency for collecting particles from a contaminated gas was obtained. The pressure drop of the device does not exceed 11 Pa. Proposed version of spray booth modernization results in increased chamber overhaul life and reduced operating costs. The technical result is a simple design of the multivortex separation device and its increased efficiency of air cleaning from fine particles due to the formation of the regular vortex structure.
