Abstract
In tropical Colombia, where 75% of groundwater exploitation is concentrated in two limited areas, successful agricultural ventures proved its economic value. It is therefore imperative to assess the development possibilities of this almost untouched resource to complement surface water in irrigation and water supply projects, and in some cases to replace contaminated sources. The present paper introduces the major aquifer units of the country and discusses the state of exploitation and approximate recharge values. © 1987 Taylor & Francis Group, LLC.
