The different alternatives offered by computer software for text processing make it possible to describe content in an objective, systematic and qualitative way. In this vein, we test the Provalis Research package software applied to letters evaluating the personal behaviour of teachers. By means of specialized software for document analysis, this study focuses on the relevance of frequent words in the population studied, in an attempt to shed light on the possibilities offered by a terminological hierarchy and its contribution to the description of facts, the orientation of research activity and the generation of new knowledge. © 2011 Publications Service of the University of Murcia.
