Abstract

Inside the diverse factors that generate violence and criminality in Latin America, the cultural theme has been gradually becoming more important. For this reason, the existing relations between culture and crime will be established, for then, define conceptually the various cultural phenomena of the region that are considered to be associated with criminal manifestations in order to establish some reasons associated with their origin, development and permanence in Latin America, to show how through various theories and approaches of citizen security has been sought to counteract such anticultural phenomena by implementation of public citizen security policies based on applied experiences in Chile and in the department of Antioquia (Colombia).
