Abstract
Films business are still concentrated in Jakarta, the capital city. Film has emerged and intended in Indonesia without flexibility for the society. Film, as though by the common, are only consumed as entertainment, even if film has a variety of functions really. So if film perceived totally as entertainment medium only by its audience, so it can be ascertained that we still have a problem on the distribution system. There is an economic political agenda that leads films to have functions on particular interest. If we put film as an alternative medium to broader our knowledge, we must facing another fact about knowledge distribution in Indonesia that oftenly get restrictions. Unfortunately the restrictions not be done by the government alone, but also from groups that based on mass and/or capital. The problem above is actually already though by CLC Purbalingga. This group does not necessarily rely on the rules of film distribution in Indonesia and were not putting film as an entertainment strategy. They instead initiated to deliver references and provides facilities for high school and vocational students in Purbalingga when they took filmmaking. Their output are not just about the quantity of their self-made film but 'watching movies' must become a central part of Purbalingga film society manner, while their film products consistently got national and international appreciation since 2004. Efforts by CLC Purbalingga provides flexibility about film consumption that not limited to a medium of entertainment only, but into literacy and become part of the culture.
