Abstract
Conventional treatment of early-stage non–small cell lung carcinoma continues to be anatomical lobectomy with systematic mediastinal lymphadenectomy. Weighing the advantages and disadvantages of traditional thoracotomy procedures and the modern video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery approach has led us to develop a reproducible and safe technique using robotic technology. The technique is claimed to reduce morbidity and mortality, shorten hospital stays, allow patients a faster return to functional capacity, and be more cosmetically appealing than open thoracotomy or video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery approach. This article presents an overview of a total endoscopic 3-arm robotic video-assisted anatomical lobectomy and systematic lymph node dissection performed through a port-only approach.
