Abstract

We have recently discovered that the levels of circulating myeloid-derived suppressor cells, which are associated with an impaired T-cell proliferation and produce high amounts of reactive oxygen species, increase with age and are elevated in individuals in remission from cancer. Herein, potential mechanisms underpinning these observations are discussed. © 2013 Landes Bioscience.
