Abstract

The Circular Economy has been gaining a large amount of interest in the research community especially in the past few years. Its application to the Supply Chain field is being increasingly addressed in the literature, as there are huge stakes in terms of environmental, social, and economic development. Therefore, this article provides a systematic review of circular economy publications applied to the supply chain. It aims to conceptualize the definition of the circular economy, the circular supply chain and borders with other existing concepts, to categorize main barriers to its implementation and to identify the main limitations of current research and its prospects.
