Abstract

Waste to energy technologies is considered a viable solution for global warming's sustainability. Several such systems have been developed to produce power from different waste energy sources. However, the main objective of this study is to identify the amount of waste produced in a typical pharmaceutical industry and thereby categorize the wastes by their type with a case study. This study will also provide detailed modeling of a waste-to-energy power recovery system for the same industry. The study found that the developed model indicates around 62% cost saving compared to the existing system. Hence, the model can be used by any pharmaceutical company to save money and minimize carbon footprint for their production.
