Fasciolosis aguda: Presentación de un caso de Cuba

Abstract

Fasciolosis is a worldwide parasitic disease in human and domestic animals. The causative agents of fasciolosis are Fasciola hepatica and Fasciola gigantica but, in Cuba, only F. hepatica has been notified. As others neglected diseases, F. hepatica is more common in people living in rural areas where infected animals, intermediate hosts and susceptible hosts coexist. We describe the clinical features of a case that could contribute to the process of continuing medical education of health professionals in our geographic area. © 2012 Sociedad Chilena de Infectología.
