Abstract

The article presents a case study which aims to identify the thinking processes of high school students through a naturalistic inquiry on the engineering design process. The study conducted six weeks of site visits, observations, and discussions with 1500 students at a suburban high school. Results indicated experience and skills in areas of engineering design and material fabrication in the fall semester provide students with the foundation needed for the spring semester.
