Abstract
The challenges of continuing education on health are clearly seen in areas where extensive process of medicalization is maintained and that technological advances are continually being developed. They are more apparent when permeated by widespread myths and beliefs socially maintained, as in the area of assisted reproduction. Objective: To discuss the inclusiveness of continuing education nurtured by the experience built on three levels of performance (teaching, research and extension) in a university hospital, reference in the state and the city of Rio de Janeiro. Methods: The activities begin training in reproductive health - 120 medical undergraduate students per year and also in courses such as Biology, Social Work, Psychology, Nursing, and provide rotation of Residents in Obstetrics and Gynecology (10/years), besides improvement in Assisted Reproduction (2 lato sensu students per year, hours of 360h). The approach to university extension is done through monitoring welcome groups provided to 30 patients starting treatment per month by students graduate and post. Results: the exchange of knowledge enable the development/improvement of technical requirements essential - look and listen more sensitive, and includes students in critical questioning of the need of this care in the public network. Besides leading to a better specific training, it allows broader access to technology, in a process of social justice and equality in reproductive health. © Todos os direitos reservados a SBRA - Sociedade Brasileira de Reprodução Assistida.
