Abstract
Esport entered the stage as a social phenomenon in its organized form in the beginning of the 2000s after a longer period of self-development. Since then, it has been spreading in society in various ways. At first glance, it might seem to be a subculture of the information society. The purpose of this study is to examine the assumption above and to explore the basic group characteristics of esport players. The subcultural aspect of this research is also essential since esport is not widely known and recognized social activity. Explorative research may help outsiders understand the importance and relevance of esports. Furthermore, the gathered data can help in the modernization of certain fields of education.
