Abstract

An obituary for Dr. Li Wenliang, an ophthalmologist whose on-the-ground observational skills led him to warn his fellow medical school alumni of a possible ′′SARS-like′′ epidemic via a post on the Chinese messaging app WeChat on Dec. 30, 2019. Dr. Li Wenliang died on Feb. 7th, 2020 of COVID-19 contracted after treating a woman for glaucoma.
