Abstract

The title complex was synthesized from the reaction of CuCl2·2H2O, pyridine-2,6-dicarboxylic acid (H2dipic) and 4- picoline in 1:1:1 mole ratio. It crystallizes in the monoclinic system (space group C2/c) with unit-cell parameters: a = 20.945(5)Å, b = 14.358(5)Å, c = 12.976(4)Å and β = 113.356(7)°. The molecule packs in a non-centrosymmetric manner aligned parallel in a head-to-tail motif involving carboxylate bridging to form 1D polymeric structure, where the Cu1-Cu2 separation is 5.1022 ± 0.0013 Å. 2009 © The Japan Society for Analytical Chemistry.
