Abstract
From local measurements in ten estuaries of rivers carrying mud sediment a number of features were identified in research. Points confirmed include progressive variation of estuary width and the hydraulic characteristics, variation of water volumes fluctuating with distance from the river mouth, relationships between instantaneous discharge and wetted section, and the effect of salt diffusion on sediment deposition. Turbidity and sediment flow problems and estuary development in the course of time were investigated.
