Abstract

Energy is one of the main factors that play an important role in the economic growth of the world. The urban growth, modernization and increase of the human population, lead in the increase of the energetic demand of the world. The future energy trend shows that the amount of energy needed by 2020 will be doubled according to the International Energy Agency. Today, all countries of the world believe that renewable energy is the alternative solution in the place of traditional energy, due to environmental problems produced in recent centuries; solar energy is one of the most important types among all renewable energies because of its advantage of being clean, carbon free and availability. Solar photovoltaic systems are the energy solution for fossil fuel dependent countries. First, the implementation of a photovoltaic system will involve to perform various sizing calculations, after having a better certainty as to the amount of materials to which it is treated in its preparation, so that the cost can be obtained. The objective of this article is to review and synthesize available information on studies of photovoltaic systems carried out between 2009 and 2019 highlighting sustainable development, applications, sizing software and cost-benefit depending on the system components. This study analyzes the benefits of photovoltaic systems and a future perspective of the implementation of photovoltaic modules. Similarly, at the end there are some general guidelines for the selection of photovoltaic systems and the parameters they should consider.
