Abstract
Recognition of phenomenological\rtendencies in several dozen disciplines beyond\rphilosophy raises the question of how\rphenomenology in general might be defined\rprior to specification in terms of the agendas of\rthe particular disciplines. After an attempt at an\ranswer to this question, some observations\rconcerning the possible benefits of interdisciplinary\rencounters, especially for philosophical\rphilosophy, are offered.
